After having Sonic announce that he would be marrying Sally Acorn Amy fell into a state of depression. She stopped eating and sleeping and just wasn't herself. He was never really close to Amy but once he saw her collapse on the street he took it upon himself to get the love sick hedgehog out of her slump.
