Thor invited his dearest Midgardian friends over to Asgard for a king-sized feast. While traveling in the Bifröst, the Avengers fell out by accident. Instead of landing on a foreign planet, they ended up falling through a wormhole and into a different dimension. In this world, it's only earth. No other planets with otherworldly beings (as far as they know). There's no superhuman people anywhere, nor any superhuman villains to thwart.
