Shuichi Saihara, a shy and well liked boy is one of the most famous detectives to have ever lived. Known throughout the country as a detective who always finds the truth, and unmasks it. That is till one fateful encounter. A dashing phantom thief with a threatening organization is slowly building a name as one of the most famous thieves in the world. The race begins as to who gets cornered first. Kokichi Ouma, one of the most unliked people and is constantly being undermined and ignored who longs to confess to his childhood crush and only friend. Love meets mystery, two personas clash in the dead of night, with two stories unfolding in the light of the sun and moon.

"This is it" or so he thought. Shuichi Saihara was a very nice highschool student who studies at Hopes Peak Academy known as the Ultimate Detective. His life isn't what you thought it would be, really. His parents died when he was still five so he lives with his uncle. His uncle is jealous of his skills so he just ignores, insults, and beat up the poor boy. The only friends he has left was Kaito, Maki and Kaede. Just them three. When he nearly reaches the ground when he jumped off an old building, everything turned white. I wonder why? So now he's stuck being Invisible with only one person who is somehow able to see him. After getting into a fight with one and other, Kokichi and Shuichi were forced to live together. Little did they know, this punishment given to them would be the best thing that ever happened to them.

Kokichi Ouma, supreme leader of Russia, takes a small trip to meet up with the president of Japan, Kirumi Tojo. While there, he meets a homeless pretty boy on the streets who tried to steal his wallet. Instead of being a normal human and calling the police, Kokichi takes the boy back to mother Russia.

After finding out who the true mastermind of the game was, Kokichi Oma was forced to participate in the new killing game along with 14 new students. The 16th student was none other than Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Despair Detective.
