"Du bist ein Junge, du bist blau!" ... besagt die oberste Direktive der blauen Nation. Nach der gescheiterten Revolution von 2024, in der sich die sogenannte "Regenbogennation" vereinte um die Welt von Rassismus, Homophobie und Sexismus zu befreien, wurden alle Teenager bis 20 Jahre in das Nationen-System gesteckt. "Du bist ein Mädchen, du bist pink!" ... besagt die oberste Direktive der pinken Nation. Eine geschlechtergetrennte Welt, in der keine Abweichung der Norm toleriert wird. Die Regierung herrscht mit eiserer Faust, und jeder der sich dem Nationen-System widersetzt, bekommt drastische Konsequenzen zu spüren. Jay, ein Junge aus der blauen Nation, ist wunderbar der Norm entsprechend. Keine Auffälligkeiten, keine negativen Einträge. Bis auf einmal Neon in sein Leben tritt. Er stammt aus den Resten der Rainbow-Nation, welche den Soldaten entkommen konnten. Er wird in das Nationen-System eingegliedert, passt dort aber so garnicht hin. Er ist das komplette Gegenteil zu Jay, was Jay mehr als aus der Bahn wirft. Da Jay auf einmal Dinge fühlt, die er dort niemals fühlen darf. "Du bist ein Junge, du liebst Mädchen!"
