Shinji Ikari had a normal life, normal friends, normal family, all of that. He did not pilot EVA, for this is a timeline where EVA was not conceived. But he starts to dream about meeting a strange silver haired boy. When that boy transfers to his class, things become less normal and more painful as memories from a past life flood Shinji's mind.

Everybody finds happiness, in the end. Shinji and Kaworu meet again in a world where no angels need to be fought or evas to be piloted and everything seems perfect until Kaworu finds out that Shinji suffers from heart failure. As they both struggle to find happiness, Shinji tries out different treatments until only to be left with no option in the end.

Kaworu and Shinji have been friends forever, so even when Kaworu moves away, Shinji knows they'll stay in contact. After just a few hours, however, they are seemingly unable to reach each other. Years pass, and Shinji finds Kaworu fresh out of college and working for his father's manufacturing company. Befuddled with waves of new emotion that he wasn't prepared for, Shinji tries to talk to Kaworu but finds himself getting more close to his old friend than he'd planned...
