It was common knowledge that even in the Wizarding World, coming back from the dead was unheard of. However, when it comes to the Potters, people have learned to expect the unexpected. The threat of Voldemort continued to loom over Great Britain, despite the Ministry's insistence that it was all false, an ingenious plan by Dumbledore to take over as Minister of Magic.
