Magnolia Beaumont's love life is a dumpster fire.
At least, it is until a mangy stray decides her forearm would make an excellent canvas for its latest masterpiece. 'Bloody & Brutal' - an illustration by Cujo.
One rabies scare later, Magnolia finds herself in purgatory . . . I mean, PTMC's overcrowded ER in the middle of a chaotic Night Shift. She waits-alone-trapped beneath fluorescent lights, and the relentless scent of antiseptic. All the while nursing a bleeding arm and a bruised ego.
Then she meets Dr. Jack Abbott.
Tall. Charming. Annoyingly attractive. The man whose salt-and-pepper curls deserve their own insurance policy and should be classified as a public hazard. The man whose dry wit is sharp enough to rival a scalpel. The man whose ghost of a smile and charming bedside manner is capable of making a girl forget all about tetanus shots, rabies vaccines, and infection.
Magnolia expected stitches, paperwork, and an awkward return to work at the Vet Clinic.
Instead, she left PTMC with something far more dangerous.
She realizes she might be at risk for more than just infection and scaring, but a full-blown case of infatuation; catching feelings she's pretty sure no booster shot can prevent . . . falling in love with a man she met under the most unromantic circumstances imaginable.
And that's a problem. A very big problem. Because Jack Abbott is too good to be true. He's gorgeous. He's funny. He's kind. He has unfairly nice hands for a man whose job regularly involves blood, bodily fluids, and trauma . . . But, he's also completely, undeniably, and frustratingly off-limits.
The real danger was never the dog bite. The real danger is falling for a man holding the sutures.
