The writings and chronicles recount that Prince Aerion Targaryen, later known as "Brightflame," was in love with his younger sister, Gaela Targaryen, "The Unfortunate."
It was not a sweet or gentle love; few Targaryens love gently.
And even fewer Targaryens like Aerion; he had followed his sister like a shadow all his life, with an obvious and immoral interest that would later be remembered as an unrequited love that ended in tragedy.
The princess seemed to harbor only platonic feelings for her brother, as she did for the rest of her siblings.
This fact seemed to bother the already unstable young man; more than an insult.
He believed his destiny was to marry her, and it infuriated him that everyone saw it as immoral.

He was determined to show everyone that this was destiny: they would marry and have children-true dragons.
He would do anything to make it happen.
And the gods know that no man desires as much as a Targaryen.
