Als frische Verlierer entschließen sich die Jungs des Volleyballclubs der Karasuno mit voller Kraft an ihren Fähigkeiten und Taktiken weiter zu arbeiten um im kommenden Frühlingstunier ihre Feinde der Aobha Johsai und der Shiratorizawa bezwingen zu können. Derweil beginnt für Rinka Aburame im Sommer wieder das Training, nachdem ihr Beachvolleyball Team das Training im Winter etwas runter gefahren hat. Durch eine Verkettung misslicher Ereignisse lernt sie den störrischen und manchmal auch etwas stumpfsinnigen Tobio Kageyama, der als ein Genie des Volleyballs betitelt wird, und sein Team des Karasuno Vollayballclubs kennen. Aber in ihren Augen ist er ein ungehobelter Egoist mit Hang zum militärischen Oberbefehlshaber! Gleichzeitig aber begegnet sie auch Oikawa Tooru, der als bester Zuspieler der Präfektur bezeichnet wird und sich als ein extrem charmanter junger Mann gibt. Die beiden Kerle haben sie eines gemeinsam: Sie sind top Spieler in ihrer Position als Setter, in der Rinka auf ganzer Strecke versagt und dringend Hilfe benötigt. Aber für wen wird sie sich entscheiden? Kann man sich zwischen diesen beiden überhaupt wählen? Und werden ihre Gefühle sie wirklich auf den richtigen Weg bringen?
