She and her brother Kai Smith who was 16 at that time ran their parents blacksmith shop, but one day as an old man came by, both Kai's and Nya's lifes changed forever. When the skeleton army attacked their shop and kidnapped Nya, an old man came to Kai and trained him to be a Ninja. There Kai met 3 other boys that were also collected by the old man. As they worked together to free Nya, the 4 boys went to the underwood to defeat the evil lord Garmadon who was leading the skeleton army but when they came back Nya had disappeared.
