What happens to Eiji once he returns to Japan? The story takes place after episode 24 so will contain spoilers. I have read Garden of Light so this is like an alternative ending. There's a lot of angst.

Eiji is torn apart by the news of Ash's death. He locks himself away and begins to slowly fade away. When he finds out Ash is still alive he couldn't be happier. But now, after so long, after almost letting it all go every morning and night, how was he supposed to pick himself back up and just forget? He's been just as gone as Ash was. Eiji breathed out before turning his back to him and looking at the tank. He could already imagine what Ash looked like. Ash's eyebrows raised up high, his cheeks tinted a bright pink.
