Astrid was conceived in Hell. However, due to her innocence as a baby, she was cast out. Her mother is Hela, goddess of death; daughter of Odin. A traveler found Astrid and brought her back to the city of Asgard where they planned to take her in as one of their own. The plan was foiled as she revealed magic far beyond what is capable of common folk. She was captured by guards and brought before Odin the all father who immediately knew what had happened. He couldn't bear the truth of her existence as Hela's daughter and instead banished her to Midgard in fear of her turning out like his daughter. In Midgard, she was discovered and placed in an orphanage where she spent 3 years of her life. One day, she realized her magic for herself and learned only the slightest of its real power.
