The beginning is SO cliche. School scene? Check. Girl best friends? Check. New boy? Check. Mean girl? Check. But as you flip through the pages... the main character gets blinded with wealth.... the hot new boy seems to have a darker side.... the bright school corridors hold lots of history.... and even the mean girl has a nerdy and criminal past to hide.... all of this adds up to a great feud. Trouble brews their way, and the only way to solve it is to make amends and be who they were before. But will they swallow their pride and do what is right? Or will their pride get the best of them, giving them the strong urge to Feud it Up? Read to find out!

"Do I make you nervous?" He whispers in my ear. I can feel his breath fanning my face, sending chills through my body. I'm rendered speechless. With a human as beautiful as him standing right in front of you, you're not left with many options. He knows the affects he has on me, so why does he need it to be clarified? He chuckles when he realizes I won't be giving him an answer. Though he knows me well enough to know that if I could, I would say the most perfect thing at this time. Although me being me, that doesn't exactly happen. ••• Tessa is your average high school student. Although recovering from a traumatizing past, she is sent to live with the Thompson's while her parents are away on a business trip. Having to live with four teenage boys isn't easy, though. The man kneeling on the concrete is already bleeding when the door slams shut behind him. He doesn't beg. He knows it won't help. Footsteps echo across the warehouse floor-slow, controlled. The kind that belong to someone who's done this before, many times, and won't lose sleep over it. A woman steps into the strip of fluorescent light, a dagger spinning casually between her fingers. "Last chance," she says. "Where is she?" The man spits blood. "You're too late. She doesn't even know who she is." The woman stops the dagger mid-spin. "That's exactly why we need her now." The man laughs, a cracked, painful sound. "She's hidden. Protected. You'll never touch her." The woman crouches, eye level with him. Her voice drops, steady and cold. "We already have." He freezes. She smiles a little. "She felt the shift today. Just a flicker, but enough. Keeps happening more often." Silence. Then she presses the dagger to his throat-not cutting, just reminding. "Now I'll ask one more time," she says. "Who's guarding her?" He swallows hard. The truth slips out like a reflex. "The boy." She doesn't react. Doesn't blink. Of course it's the boy. She stands, wipes the blade on his shirt, and turns to the man waiting by the door. "Clean this up. Move the others. We don't have much time." "And the girl?" the man asks. The woman slides the dagger back into her belt. "She's waking up. Slowly." She looks back once, only once. "When she finally remembers who she is... everything changes." No threat. No warning. Just fact. She walks out. The warehouse lights flicker. For a breath, the air feels charged-like something ancient stretched beneath the city, waiting for the right pulse to wake again. Somewhere in the city, unaware, the girl they're hunting opens her eyes-feeling a heaviness in her chest she can't explain.

Diary entry found by the IPC on August 23, 2000: I don't have much time left, but there's something I need to write down before--never mind. You know how they say secrets were meant to be hidden for a reason? They weren't lying. At least, not that time. Things aren't turning out the way it should, and we're on our final card. But no matter the risks, it's better than the alternative. I hate to say this but I have no idea what'll happen next. 6 kids, one "magical potion", and a stubborn teenager (that' me) leading the team to a place that doesn't even exist---sounds like a plan of perfection, huh? Somebody's coming. I have to go. Until next time...if I'm still alive. -Amy Qlue
