One of her fathers friends, Mr. Mertle has taken her in on behalf of her fathers request. The Beast, it's what the boys in sandlot call her dog, Hercules. They dont know the real story. April was playing around the sandlot when she hits the baseball over the fence. She of course can grab the ball but, the boys stop her. One particular boy falls for her. One day they found out the truth. Will he still like her or will all of the boys hate her.

Katie Ballard was never excited to move, never excited to make new friends, never excited to do anything with her aunt and uncle, and was never expecting what going to happen to her in the town of San Fernando Valley. Since it was Summer, it made Katie and her "brother" Scotty's life a bit easier. While Scotty tries to make friends, Katie stays home, hoping something will a happen. A best friend, a new friend, anything. When Katie finds out that Scotty made nine friends in less than a week, she can't help but laugh in disbelief. Scott proves that he does have friends, by bringing her to the Sandlot. That day, Katie not only saw proof, but actually became proof. As she not only made a few more friends than she thought, but she became awfully close to one "friend" in particular.
