THE YEAR IS 1775 WHEN the shot heard around the world marked the beginning of the American Revolution during the battles of Lexington and Concord. Blood had been shed and the chances of preventing the longstanding conflict between the colonies and the crown from erupting into war have all but passed. Now all thirteen colonies must prepare for the inevitable conflict coming to their land. What started a a mere skirmish over taxes has turned into something greater and nothing short of war will settle it.
Jane Harrison, the first and eldest daughter of longtime widowed Lieutenant Colonel Harrison, is ready for the war. She has always believed herself a true American Patriot and daughter of both America and Liberty. Like many of her fellow Americans, Jane sees a golden opportunity for herself in the upcoming war. She sees a chance at her dream; She sees her chance to be a nurse for the soldiers on the battlefield. All while serving the cause and her country, she swears on all that is Holy, it was a blessing.
Edward Harrison, Jane's older brother, saw himself as a loyal soldier for his country; His birth country: The United States of America. He has known for many years that he's wanted to fight for his home in one way or another. When the war first broke out and the colonies invested in militia, most would say, he was merely a boy; One with no formal military training. Even still, he jumped at the opportunity and took to the position like a fish to water-when the Continental Army first formed, he jumped at the chance to enlist.
So when their father chose to side with the Loyalist, the siblings had to make a choice. What their father didn't know, was they had made their choice long ago.
