The first time Offroad saw Daou , it was like time paused.
Offroad stood by the coffee cart outside his office, holding a half-empty cup and staring like a fool. Daou had just walked out of the building across the street, hair windblown, headphones in, with the kind of smile that could make flowers bloom in winter.
Their eyes met.
And bam-it hit them both.
Daou stopped in his tracks mid-song, heart thudding like it was trying to escape. He tugged his earbuds out, lips parting slightly as if to say something-but what? How do you greet someone who feels like destiny?
Offroad blinked, then smiled. A slow, crooked, unmistakably smitten smile.
Daou smiled back.
Neither of them knew anything about the other. Not their names, not where they were headed-but they both knew, without a doubt, this was it.
