Simula nang pumanaw ang kanilang lolo ay napunta sa pangangalaga ng kanilang tiyohin ang apat na magkakapatid. Ito rin ang siyang nagdala at nagpakilala sa kanila tungo sa mga hindi kapani-paniwalang mundo ng mahika. Isang mahika na tanging sa libro lamang nila nababasa. Isang mahika na matagal na palang ibinaon, itinago at ipinagkait sa kanila ng lipunan. Sa isang iglap lamang ay naging misteryoso para sa apat na magkakapatid ang mga kaganapan sa kanilang buhay at paligid, lalo na nang malaman nila ang tungkol sa isang bagay na ninakaw ng kanilang nag-iisang lolo mula sa pamahalaan.
