F/n is a resident of Night City, a student of Arasaka Academy. The main thing that sticks out about him is the lack of any chrome. He has a rare Neuro-disorder that restricts any internal cybernetics. Wanting to prove himself he chooses to buckle down and excel in his academics. Once he accepts an internship with Channel 54 news ,his life changes forever.

What do you want to do in life? Who are you? Who decides your will and fate? All these questions brought to David by his long-time friend and fellow Edgrunner, (Y/N). While the two come from different walks of life, they bond over a desire to just live their lives and do what they want, while also having a faint desire to not disappoint their mothers. As these two venture into Night City, they'll face the challenges of this city, and living life on the edge. Only they can tell whether they'll decide their fate and make it to the top, or will they simply Fade Away.

After the events of Edgerunners, (Y/N), Lucy, and Sasha stay in the world of NC, each with their own missions and goals. Though with (Y/N), a fateful encounter with an up and coming solo named V may change the trajectory of their lives together. As (Y/N) handles the trauma that haunts him from his time with David, his mind has fractured into many pieces. Each piece being seen differently in Night City. One part being the dangerous solo that prowls the streets that was once Hell Cat, but now presently seen as Kasha, the part who works for Arasaka, the one Lucy knew all along as (Y/N), and then the broken one, the one willing to kill anyone and everyone to instill as much fear, gripping NC by the heart and being the worst fear this city could possibly have. The history of humanity has always been shrouded in mystery and speculation. Remains and technology have been found, but that only tells the species that replaced humanity so much. These two new life forms are the Inklings and Octolings. Cephalopod like humanoids with tentacles for hair and weapons that fire ink.
