This story takes place in the wonderful and magical world of Chima. A 12 year old boy, named Timothy, thrived in Chima because was raised by the Lion tribe, along with his "brother," Laval. Timothy thought he was a lion himself, because he didn't know who and what he was. But one day, during a battle with the Ice Hunters, Timothy found something that would change his life, forever.

After defeating Lord Marmoo and discovering a symbol on his chest, Timothy ventures outside Chima to discover other lands, not only that but to find his real brother, Samuel and to find out what it means to be Loyal, Brave, and True, and to find the Energy Stone. During his adventure, Timothy finds something else instead.

After his adventure in the Pride Lands with Kion and the Lion Guard, Timothy is free from his curse and is now back to where he belongs, on Chima. But Timothy isn't the only one who returned, his uncle, Strykore has also been set free and Spyro is now evil! Timothy and his friends must travel farther then before and must find a way to save Spyro from the darkness inside him and either kill Strykore, or banish him for good. What will Timothy do after all of this is over?
