What actually happened was much worse. He had some sort of crazy obsession over you, he believed that you'd willingly overlook every horrible crime that he's committed as Kira and rule the world with him. There's no way to leave Light without him taking his anger out on the people you love. You desperately need an escape, but almost all options lead to the death of your friends and family. But there's no way that you'll spend the rest of your life with the delusional Light. You'll find a way to escape him no matter what it takes.
