Silence is such a weird concept; it's the absence of sound is all, and yet people have such different reactions to it, some would prefer silence over people, some go nearly insane when forced into silence, and some people have no choice but to adapt to silence as a life long companion. She was told over and over again that there was a slight possibility she could regain some portion of her hearing, but after a year, she simply gave up hope.
