'You call this fate' has won: 1st place in BLUE ROSE AWARDS 2017 (Action) 1st place in THE PURPLE APPLE AWARDS 2017 (General fiction) The One and Only Award in the RARITY AWARDS (General fiction) 3rd place in THE PUPPET AWARDS 2017 (that was when my genre was mystery/thriller. I believe general fiction fits my story better) Zara Mahal, a girl adrift from her motherland, a virtual exile amongst strangers, was no dreamer. She saw the ugliness in the world with clear eyes, heard it's screams and cries with open ears. She knew, and yet she dared to imagine a new life...but when is it that the past leaves you behind? She's being chased, by the demons within and the demons without...and she sees no way through. Yet...her snarky, rude, more-amicable-dead-than-alive boss seems to know something. Something he won't tell her about. Something that threatens to rock her world and throw her to the ground till her bones break and her head splits. No, I tell you...Zara Mahal knows the tears behind a happy life. But when her friend gets killed, and she's thrown into a whirlpool of shadowed faces and pulsing darkness, only Alexander Rodwell seems to know how to pull her out. The problem? He's the one pushing her in. P.S. the amazing cover is made by @mebekamil... go ahead and check out the rest of her works!

Her heart was beating so fast and her stomach ached so bad. She knew this was it, this was her fate being sealed. " Zhulfah Bint Ilyas? " It would be weird to ask the Imam a question like " Hey look. There was a really nice old friend of my dad's pestering me to be his third wife and I didn't want to go to Ogbomosho and his proposal came along and everything kinda rushed from there, so does that mean I was in my sane mind when I said...yes?" Surely some level of insanity meant she wasn't sure, right? Must the question be a yes or no answer? Can't it just be a maybe? Something along the lines of ' maybe I'll marry him 'cuz my heart is kinda telling me to but my brain's answer isn't forthcoming?' Wait...does that even make any sense? " Zhulfah Bint Ilyas? " She hadn't had breakfast but she felt like she downed a whole packet of laxatives with the way her stomach danced weirdly. " Zhulfah... " " Yes! Yes! Yes! I do! I do!" She said a bit too loudly into the mic, and was instantly filled with regret. She heard her best friend chuckle lightly behind her and she wanted nothing more than to give her a good beating. She glanced over at her husband to be in a few minutes, and her face heated up when she caught him smiling amusingly. " I mean", She cleared her throat. " I do...accept him as...as..my husband." " Well, I think I'll have to speed up the event and legalize these two", The Imam joked and the whole congregation burst into laughter. Zhulfah's face warmed up several degrees, and she was so sure her face would be burnt before the end of that day with the way she was blushing to a severe degree. The Imam was still laughing, and she knew it won't look like a joke much longer if she had a scissors to his beard.

Eyes wide, lips parted, hair disheveled and hands raised towards her. Salma took a step towards the edge. "Stop! Get down!" "Don't come near me," she warned. It was a broad, three-foot ledge but how far could she cross it to escape him? The parking lot was a long way down - a dark abyss. Salma felt movement behind her. She stepped away from the edge and turned her attention on Zayn again, but she was already too slow. He had grabbed a handful of her abaya. Salma tugged at it to set it free. "Get down!" Zayn demanded, his voice frantic. "Let me go!" "Just get down!" "No, you --" "JUST GET THE FU--" "-- back off first!" "--DOWN FROM THE LEDGE!" Salma's left heel dipped. She had not realized she had been backing away as she argued with him. Startled by the sudden vacuum, her upper body reacted by jerking forward. Her arms flailed as she lost her balance.
