A post-TROS fix fic. Ben & Rey's story after Episode IX. This story contains plenty of spoilers from Episode IX, and some from the Mandalorian. These are not my characters, world, or artwork.

You've heard of the Hunger Games. You've seen the newest characters of the Sequel Star Wars Trilogy come to life on screen. Get ready for a cross-canon alternative universe in which love knows no limits, hope and compassion fly free, and the Force grows ever present in the lives of all. The ruthless President Snoke has grown impatient with the growing unrest in the galaxy, despite an annual Hunger Games to keep the 12 planets who rebelled all those years ago in line. As the presence of the Galactic Resistance- political idealists fighting to bring back the way of the Old Republic- grows, Snoke takes advantage of his apprentice in using him as a form of obedience and discipline. Ben Solo has come of age, and Snoke sees it as an opportunity to hold yet another Hunger Games- this time, only women. One lone victor, instead of swimming in riches, will gain the hand of Ben Solo in marriage. ↠✽↞✽↠✽↞ When Rey, along with three other Jakku Tributes, are selected in the reaping, an opportunity is found. The Resistance is everywhere, and Rey knows of it- especially since she's been picked out as a possible recruit. To win the Games, Rey will have to risk everything- not just her life, but her newfound reputation as a Force-Sensitive, the location of a secret, powerful mentor, alliances with true friends she has made, and even, shockingly- Budding, growing feelings for the man she will have to murder. ↠✽↞✽↠✽↞ Travel through hyperspace to an alternative universe far, far away, in which galactic love stories capture the hearts and very souls of all.

What if the bond, the Dyad and the connection had started earlier? Driven from the Resistance and her friends by her Force bond with the enemy, Rey strives to live a peaceful life far away from the galactic war that rages on without her. Although Kylo Ren does everything in his power to shield her from harm, he soon learns he cannot do so from afar. But when a threat to her life brings him to her side, his deepest desires and fears are both realized and a foe long thought defeated rises again. This is a concise, focused story with a complete arc designed to be read in only a few sittings. You can think of it as my vision for just the Rey/Ben scenes for the Episode IX film. Note: this is entirely independent from my other Reylo, "Betrayal." Questions and comments are always welcome!!! Excerpt: The look Kylo gave her, permeated with intense longing and regret, both moved and exasperated her. "Oh, cut it out," Rey hissed, annoyed by his tiresome displays of conflicted emotions. "You know what I want." "Yes," she declared. "You've made it abundantly clear. What matters to you is power, order, control. Well, you will never have power, order, or control over me." The same flash of heat pooled deep in his gaze, and Rey resisted the urge to strike him again.

Over the past year, Ben has changed considerably, becoming disillusioned by the First Order and implementing a plan to end the war with the Resistance as its victors. Now, ready to execute the last step of his plan, he has to confront Rey once again. Unfortunately, she has her own opinions about his lofty plan. In this story, it turns out Snoke wasn't lying and he really did create the connections between Kylo Ren and Rey in "The Last Jedi." (Note: This also means there was no Force connection between them on Crait since Snoke was dead by then.) So, there is no Force bond and there's no special link between the two of them. But...that doesn't mean they weren't profoundly affected by the experience. Excerpt: He knew the moment she noticed him, felt it like a stab to his core through the Force. He saw the fierce determination in her eyes and he tried to match it, but was certain he failed. All he could feel was sorrow. The tempo of his steps increased as he covered the ground toward her. He watched as she turned her body toward him, bringing her magnificent dual-bladed, bright white lightsaber to bear, her lips pulling back in a vicious sneer as she sought what she had yet to realize he was here to offer her willingly. Deflecting one last bolt and seeing her raise her weapon with the start of a battle cry intended to lend her extra strength, Ben thumbed his lightsaber off and dropped to his knees at her feet, his head bowed and his eyes closed. Do it, he thought desperately. End me. End my misery.

"When I offer you my hand again, you'll take it." What if Kylo Ren had been right? What if Rey had taken Kylo Ren's hand when he offered it the second time, deciding her best chance at defeating Palpatine and saving the galaxy was with him? But can the two of them overcome their differences and mistrust of each other to accomplish that task or will pride win out? And then there is a certain group of meddling Force Ghosts determined to test them to their fullest. Meanwhile, Finn has a destiny of his own to fulfill chasing visions of his past across the galaxy. Poe buries himself in work as he tries to forget his failures and forge ahead. Leia attempts to cement her legacy and ensure the future of the galaxy. This fanfic explores a different ending to TROS starting at about the halfway point, when Kylo reveals the truth about Rey in the hangar. It will focus mainly on their story but there will be significant plot arcs that focus on Finn, Poe, Leia, and others. There will be a few augmentations to the earlier story, but I have tried to stay true to the plot up until this point, except for the 16 hr deadline Palpatine gave them. His threat was open ended in my version.
