MAGIC BRINGS POWER AND POWER BREEDS WAR. There hasn't been magic in the Five Nations since The Last War, but something dangerous is brewing and the Grand Duchess can't seem to run away from the destiny that calls to her. After the Yeladelian royal family is slaughtered in their sleep, the surviving Grand Duchess Manya Kovnokozi makes a harrowing escape into a neighbouring kingdom. She knows there's a traitor among her that desperately wants to end the great Kovnokozi line, so Manya knows her only chance of finding said traitor is to not be a Kovnokozi at all. Under an assumed identity, Manya's plans to reclaim the Frostborn Throne go awry when she's whisked away to a foreign court as the Lady Lilianna Griffith for the Season. Her disguise at foreign court falters when an ancient power within Manya begins to bubble to the surface, painting a new and more perilous target on her back. Manya is stuck in a dizzying game of power, revenge, treachery, and a blossoming attraction to a crown prince that puts them both in more danger than they know. High Court has always been said to be a deadly affair, but this Season will prove just how deadly it can get. After all, revenge is a dish best served cold. A magic-addicted spy trapped in the queen's service must track a princess-turned-assassin in order to earn her freedom, but things get complicated when she falls for the princess she's supposed to capture. ***** Weak. Cursed. That's how seventeen-year-old Kayden Branimir, the realm's deadliest assassin, views herself. Some believe she could save the world with her rare healing magic, but she gave up on her powers long ago after failing to save her best friend. Her life changes when she receives a letter from her supposedly dead twin brother, Alaric, begging to be rescued from rival territory Leodia. For the first time since her friend's accident, Kayden is determined to be the hero, but she must learn to embrace her magic--and herself--along the way. Strange. Unnatural. Those are the words whispered about eighteen-year-old Zara Tait, a Leodian spy addicted to soul-stealing magic. Forced into the queen's service, Zara wants to escape and return home, but she has nothing to offer the queen in exchange for her freedom. When Kayden arrives in Leodia, Zara sees the quiet girl with unique magic as the bargaining chip she needs. But the more she learns of Kayden, the more her feelings grow. Now, Zara must choose between her freedom and the dangerous assassin she hadn't meant to fall for. Ray is low on time, luck, and hope; his only chance is an artifact that may not even exist. But upon meeting Landon, Ray is beginning to believe he might find all four. ***** Cambions are doomed to tragedy. They are weak, sickly creatures that rarely live to see their twentieth year. Ray refuses to resign himself to that fate. Upon learning of the Crimson Sheath-an artifact capable of preserving his life-Ray is prepared to fight, steal, and kill to get his hands on it. He is not prepared for Landon. Landon is an orphan with no memories of his parents, the only inheritance left to him a dagger, sleeping in a crimson sheath. Though he has no love of bloodshed and no use for a dagger, Landon isn't about to let Ray take his only link to his forgotten history, even if that means following the cambion past the edge of the world and into the shadow beyond. Why did I read so many werewolf books that kinda have the same ending and plot? I shouldn't have done that. _________ Suddenly waking up in the werewolf world and being entangled in the plot of one of the books you had read seems bizzare. But this is what exactly happens with Lilian. Before she can understand her situation, she's in way too deep to escape. Going back and staying alive are the only two things she has on mind. "Maybe I can get out by reaching the ending." This had to be easy, right? _________________ "He smirked as he walked towards her, a glint in his grey eyes. There was something about him that just made every eye in the room turn towards him and she was no exception." I felt like throwing up. This was what I liked reading? I wanted to choke myself to death, for liking these cliché books. Everyday I was moving a step closer towards insanity. Why did I even like this cringey stuff? I questioned my inner soul for now I had to live in this world. It was getting hard to control my mouth from speaking blasphemy of curses but I had to lest I die just from offending an Alpha. "Can I change the ending?" Previously called 'Shouldn't Have Read Those Clichés'
