Meredith and Derek are in college and they have been friends since childhood. they met when they were twelve years old. Derek is studying to become a neurosurgeon and is currently 22. he has a family who loves him and lives in an apartment with his girlfriend Meredith. Meredith is studying to become a fetal surgeon and is currently 21. she has a mother and a younger sister living back at home but her father left when she was young and lives with her boyfriend Derek.
