There are 2 types of humans, commons and espesals. Commons are standard everyday humans, while espesals are born with supernatural abilities. Skeppy is one of the lucky few who are born with these powers. Or, the somewhat lucky few for 16 years, for all espesals are forced to go to Lipulin, a "university" for espesals once they turn 17. Nobody really knows what happens there, and there hasn't been anyone who's finished the 7 years of the school coming forward and talking about it. There's only ever been rumors.
