Back in California, something happened to Max and she's scared it may be happening all over again here in Hawkins. The Mind Flayer is back, there are Russians hidden under the mall and summer is almost over. In comparison, Max and El's problems should be minuscule and yet they seem to be the hardest to solve. Both girls had traumatic childhoods, yet one came out more naive about the hateful society she's now growing up in. Meanwhile the other tries desperately to both protect and educate her new friend/crush against the 'Regular People' that plague society. This touching story takes the plot of your favorite Supernatural/Science Fiction Netflix Original and adds the real LGBT+ teenage issues that The Duffer Brothers didn't.
