Cas, Dean, and Sam have been hunting together and splitting off to take smaller jobs. The story starts with the three of them on three separate hunts. Cas is human and wounded. He shows up at Dean's motel in need of help. What proceeds is the two of them meeting up with Sam and going on an involved hunt, over the course of which Dean and Cas slowly figure out their feelings for each other. Lots of awkwardness (in a good way), some mild angst, comfort, and eventually fluff and smut.

They try their hardest to keep their new found dynamic (and blossoming relationship) a secret from the younger Winchester, but sometimes Castiel makes it very difficult.

"Why do your wings pop out around Dean and not me?" Sam asked, cocking his head moose-ishly. Castiel squirmed uncomfortably. "No reason." He answered. Sam dropped the subject, but Castiel knew he wasn't going to give up.

After a witch hunt in southern Ohio, Dean can see Castiel's wings.

It takes place a few hours after Mary Winchester left the bunker. Dean is heartbroken, Sam is drinking, Castiel and Crowley are looking for Lucifer. Cas can hear Dean in his head, and he drops everything to make sure he's okay. They have no idea that they love each other. They've been keeping it to themselves, their own personal struggles. But tonight may be the night that all changes. Is this moment in time the place to finally let all be exposed?
