The storm rolled over the Sarawak hills as fifteen passengers boarded the Sarawak Transport Company bus bound for Bau, a historic gold mining town. Among them: Gladys Ee, a sharp-eyed schoolteacher; James, the young constable; and Mr. Indira, the blustering police inspector. They were headed to a gold mining convention, unaware that death was riding with them. Sitting quietly near the back was Ah Jin, a notorious gangster with a trail of enemies and secrets. When the bus finally arrived-two hours late due to flooding-Ah Jin was dead in his seat, eyes closed as if asleep. No one had seen a thing. No struggle. No sound. Just silence and the steady drum of rain. As whispers and suspicion filled the humid air, it fell to Gladys and James to untangle the truth. Among the passengers, one held a quiet, long-burning grudge-and a deadly plan disguised in something as ordinary as sunflower seeds.
