As Hailey Upton continued to look for more information on what happened to Vanessa, Jay Halstead tried his best to be there for her, but he was continuously pushed away. He continued to look for different ways to make sure Hailey was alright, which led him to discover something that he feared would happen.

A few weeks after Jay and Hailey confessed their feelings for each other, and after Hailey recovered from a scary incident. They were back at being partners in work again, but out of work was a different story for them. They haven't told anyone yet, since they knew about the rule that the intelligence unit has, but that isn't the only problem they might have. It was supposed to be a special day for two people until someone goes missing, which leads the intelligence unit to investigate, but when a new case arise, one member of the intelligence unit unknowingly uncovers their past.

It's been a year since Lizzie showed up, Hailey and Vanessa got a new place despite Lizzie saying that she was fine sleeping on the couch. Hailey and Jay were already close during that year but after the Bruce Griffin's case closed, Jay came by Hailey and Vanessa's place bringing dinner more often than before, and after every case the intelligence unit would close Hailey and Jay would always end up doing their "thing" which made their "partnership" grow more and more as the cases close and the days past. On the present day, it was supposed to be a regular day in the office for the intelligence unit of the 21st district, until someone unexpected showed up which leads the intelligence unit to uncover a major twist in the case.

Hailey and Jay had been married a month and were settling into that life well. There were still a few bumps they experienced as they grew accustomed to the new change but like most of the bumps they had come across in the past, they got over them without a problem. Accompanied with their two and a half-year-old daughter Macie currently in the midst of the so-called "terrible twos", the two of them have their hands full, especially alongside their demanding jobs and with Jay up for a possible promotion in the near future.
