[5 in #literasia, 14 in #lesbianstories] It was the twenty-seventh of May when it all began. In a single night, Indira Mistry gave her heart hope, wore it on her sleeve, got it beaten up, drowned it with alcohol, smoked it with cigarettes, poured it out and got it torn through and stepped on, all in the space of a few hours. She was convinced that was where her story ended, where her two-year liking for the only boy she had truly felt this strongly about came to an end. Indira Mistry, after seven double vodka and Cokes, four cigarettes and an almost trip to a strip club, had decided to tell the boy of her dreams things she had been too scared to even admit to herself. But little did she know, her time was just beginning and nothing could prepare her for the summer where she would finally start living for herself.

Dreams. They're only dreams. Strange, brutal dreams, straight off the pages of an ancient Greek mythology book. That's what Mandy Burkhardt tells herself, stocking shelves at the Occult Bookstore in Chicago. Her boss senses more. He feels something. An awakening. The prophecy. The others can, too, even if they can't quite put a finger on it. As the hidden power inside of her grows, an ancient spell comes to life, compelling her back to her rightful time and place: ancient Greece, a barbaric era of witches and gods, gorgons and oracles. Witnessed by new friend, Ryan Taylor, Mandy's disappearances can no longer be denied. Together, they try to discover what's happening to her and why but in the process become targets in a deadly and sinister plot. Caged, trussed, shackled and hunted, Mandy must come to terms with her past and fight for her future in a bloody battle to the finish with even more at stake than she knows. * * * Bringing legend back to life in this present-day fantasy thriller, the Medusa Deception gives readers a glimpse of ancient Greece and the gods - their thirst for power and revenge - their treachery and lies.

Greek mythology is the body of myths and teachings that belong to the ancient Greeks, concerning their gods and heroes, the nature of the world, and the origins and significance of their own cult and ritual practices. It was a part of the religion in ancient Greece. Modern scholars refer to and study the myths in an attempt to shed light on the religious and political institutions of Ancient Greece and its civilization, and to gain understanding of the nature of myth-making itself. Greek mythology is explicitly embodied in a large collection of narratives, and implicitly in Greek representational arts, such as vase-paintings and votive gifts. Greek myth attempts to explain the origins of the world, and details the lives and adventures of a wide variety of gods, goddesses, heroes, heroines and mythological creatures. - This Book of Greek Mythology contains : The beginning of the world : how the world created by the greek myth The Olympian gods : will tell you about the 12 gods of Olympus + 2 (Hades and Hestia) The Greek Heroes : many famous Greek heroes are here including the mighty Hercules, Achilles and Jason. Egyptian mythology is the collection of myths from ancient Egypt, which describe the actions of the Egyptian gods as a means of understanding the world. The beliefs that these myths express are an important part of ancient Egyptian religion. Myths appear frequently in Egyptian writings and art, particularly in short stories and in religious material such as hymns, ritual texts, funerary texts, and temple decoration. These sources rarely contain a complete account of a myth and often describe only brief fragments. Inspired by the cycles of nature, the Egyptians saw time in the present as a series of recurring patterns, whereas the earliest periods of time were linear. Myths are set in these earliest times, and myth sets the pattern for the cycles of the present. Present events repeat the events of myth, and in doing so renew maat, the fundamental order of the universe. Amongst the most important episodes from the mythic past are the creation myths, in which the gods form the universe out of primordial chaos; the stories of the reign of the sun god Ra upon the earth; and the Osiris myth, concerning the struggles of the gods Osiris, Isis, and Horus against the disruptive god Set. Events from the present that might be regarded as myths include Ra's daily journey through the world and its otherworldly counterpart, the Duat. Recurring themes in these mythic episodes include the conflict between the upholders of maat and the forces of disorder, the importance of the pharaoh in maintaining maat, and the continual death and regeneration of the gods. The details of these sacred events differ greatly from one text to another and often seem contradictory. Egyptian myths are primarily metaphorical, translating the essence and behavior of deities into terms that humans can understand. Each variant of a myth represents a different symbolic perspective, enriching the Egyptians' understanding of the gods and the world. - 2017 -Completed-

When Aria meets Nima, the latest in a long line of victims lured to Eden by the promise of safety, a spark rekindles her cold heart. Aria can't sit idly by while Nima becomes her parents' next prey. The two must find a way to survive Eden's deadly experiments, or risk the greatest love they've ever known.
