Maybe it's because he had a family to hold both his hands, to give him morning hugs and kisses, as well as goodnights, to cuddle with him when he was cold, to make sure that he never had to doubt whether or not he was loved and cared for. He's learned to fend for himself and has no need to rely on anyone else. He's like an earnest adult in a teenage body. While the school doors are closed, he's working, studying, and helping out his ageing parents with the silliness put aside. The world is full of surprises. But these two college students have a connection that's beyond thoughtless, sentimental, and childish.
