Nikdo si nedovolí mu vzdorovat, nikdo nezpochybňuje jeho právoplatné nástupnictví. Má vše, co si zamane...kromě ní. Příběh začíná koncem prvního dílu Avangers, kdy Thór odvádí Lokiho zpět na Ásgard, aby byl Ódinem náležitě za své hříchy spáchané proti Midgardu potrestán.

Při natáčení filmů se stává hodně. Lidé se seznamují, tvoří, poznávají druhé. I z těch nejzatvrzelejších samotářů se občas vyklube přátelská duše, jež jen touží po poznání, ale najít si důvěru, je stojí mnoho. Monserrat je mladá dívka, jež se se svou přítelkyní Mirandou dostaly k natáčení a tím začaly svůj sen. Je vedle své kamarádky téměř nepostřehnutelná, avšak i jí si někdo všimne. Sama by nejraději splynula se zdí a jen tiše předkládala své návrhy režisérovi, jenž v dívce vidí obrovský potenciál. Thomas William Hiddleston, idol mnoha žen, potká Monserrat a snaží se ji poznat. Ona je ale nepřístupná jako uzamčená kniha v nejvyšší polici největší knihovny. Sama velmi dobře ví proč. Thomas se ale nezastaví, dokud se nedostane do nejtajnějšího zákoutí její mysli. Je však ona ochotna otevřít se muži a zklamat tak svou kamarádku?

Čeho všeho byste byli ochotni se vzdát pro záchranu těch, na kterých vám záleží? Byli byste ochotni přijmout pomoc samotného boha, výměnou za váš život a svobodu? Liv se ocitá před rozhodnutím, které jí navždy změní život. Její zoufalá modlitba byla vyslyšena. Nečekala však, že byla vyslyšena právě zlým severským bohem klamů, Lokim. Byla to jen shoda náhod nebo je za tím něco víc? Po uzavření dohody, kterou ji Loki učiní, a kterou Liv nemůže odmítnout, se ocitá v Asgardu, jako jeho "zajatec". Je ale možné si na tak odlišný život mezi bohy zvyknout? A co když se hranice mezi nenávistí a náklonností začnou rozplývat? Je možné, aby mezi nimi vzniklo něco víc... dokonce i láska? A má vůbec něco tak křehkého místo ve světě, kde se schyluje k Ragnaröku - konci všeho? (Pozn.: v příběhu se mohou objevit některé úseky z filmů, ale jejich důvod či příčina s filmy nemusí souviset. Některé postavy, např. Thor, v příběhu záměrně nevystupují.)

Lokiho se rozhodli potrestat poněkud nezvyklým způsobem. Hodí jej na starosti mladé dívce. Těžko říct, kdo z nich je ponížen víc. Ale na zdánlivě rovné stezce se začínají objevovat kameny, louže a díry. Nejistota trápí ji, vzbuzené city zase jej. Ona si klade otázku: Mohla bych bohu lží věřit?
