He grows up, they meet again when he's thirteen, and then eventually they finally are able to develop a friendship when Amane becomes Hanako. But what if that didn't happen this time? What if somebody changed one small, little detail, and all of a sudden our perfect story became a nightmare. What if, instead of a school house for education... Kamome Gakuen was a mental hospital? So instead when Yashiro traveled back to see the young Amane, the idea that this perfect woman out of nowhere that is rooting for him was something Amane drilled into his head. The thought affected the boy in ways that made people start to worry. It wasn't just that either. Poor Amane's brother was clearly insane, and Amane himself showed sadistic behavior. Both boys were known to be violent and aggressive.
