"Come on, Bella," he coaxed, and that nickname made me shudder - in fear or longing, I couldn't decipher. "Don't be like that." I pressed my palms against his chest, trying and failing to push him away from me even an inch. "I missed you so much," he continued, his voice going low, almost baritone. "I missed seeing you. Smelling you. Touching you. Don't you understand?" When Isabella O'Connor escaped her psychotic husband four years ago to raise their son on her own, she thought that was the last she'd see of him.
