Earth is different from how you and I see it now. Now it is a world full of races intermixed with the birds that fly overhead. The world has been at war for some time. While the Sovap warriors fight against the Neveroth, the only place that is somewhat safe from it is little Livia. Atia and her brother, Lucius, live there, both adopted by their Bidae parents. While Atia is content with her peasant life, she knows that it is not what is destined for Lucius. For Atia is Bidae, but Lucius is a Neveroth: strong people of Corvus. With her parents too weak to travel to such a dangerous country, Atia takes it on her own shoulders. She must find the true home of her brother. Even if it means she winds up finding her true self along the way. * Completed January 9th, 2023

I wrote this poem in 1987 during the time of the Ethiopian famine. Last year I changed a couple lines, and this is my updated version. When I first wrote this poem I was only 18 years old and hadn't had children yet. Now after nursing 7 children, I realize the mother in the poem was also dying because she didn't have enough calories herself to produce breast milk for her baby. This collection of poems/stories deals with world wide issues and life struggles. I have poems or stories on most of these subjects, but just gradually publishing them. I usually write poems that other readers might relate to, but I realize that some material will be sensitive to some readers. Please note: not trying to offend anyone.

I was working as a security guard sitting in my when an office lady across from came up and commented "someone should invent laryngitis spray because her coworker was getting on her nerves. I said I'll write a poem about that, and I showed it to her in less than an hour. It put her in a good mood for the rest of the day. *note: laryngitis is "inflammation of the larynx. often resulting in loss of voice." These collection of poems are usually sarcastic, humorous, sometimes job related etc
