Zayn Malik wasn't exactly your typical 17 year old but not in some awful way. He liked reading, writing, singing and art. He even enjoyed school. He wasn't popular but wasn't an outcast nonetheless. He had two good friends, Louis and Niall. None of them were ever bullied and they all grew up pretty well. Sure there were some bumps in the road but nothing serious. Both Zayn and Louis were openly gay and Niall claimed to be straight. But Zayn's gaydar constantly went off around him. So he wouldn't exactly be surprised if Niall ever came out as gay or even bi for that matter. The three of them were all good kids, Louis sometimes being the one to push everyones boundaries. All in all, Zayn was just, Zayn. Liam Payne on the other hand, wasn't your average 17 year old either. He was in a gang. He had a few piercings, multiple tattoos, he smoked. The exact opposite of Zayn. He had a tough life, never wanting to let anyone in. He refused to let people know his feelings, he knew they didn't care, everyone would only pity him if he ever let them in. So what's a better way to hide your emotions, then stir up other peoples? He was the head of the gang. Harry and Josh being both his best friends and his backup. There was a couple others in the gang no one of importance in Liam's opinion.
