Lauriel Manken is an ordinary sixteen-year-old girl--that is, until her entire world is turned upside down in a single moment of time. Her days of peace are stripped in an instant, forcing Lauriel into a situation outside of her control and far beyond the realm of familiarity. Now, alongside her mysterious, eccentric mentor, new friends, and her loving parents (who are clearly hiding something), Lauriel must explore the secrets of the Inksmiths, a group of trained magicians wielding ink as their weapon, while attempting to become one of them in time to save her kingdom of Alavan. Caught between secrets, lies, and magic, Lauriel is left with only her wits and her unshakable trust in others to help keep her from a grisly death at the hands of an enemy she still doesn't understand. *Cover subject to change*
