The war is over, and it's time to return to school to make up the seventh year that so many missed. But there are those who won't be returning. Draco Malfoy does not want to go back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. That is among the few things of which he is absolutely certain. He knows the empty seats at meals and in classes will remind everyone- and himself, too- of what he has done. Draco is broken, maybe beyond repair. Guilt weighs down on him always, and nightmares chase him in his sleep. Images of the war, and of all of those who died because of what he's done, rise up in his mind, and every night he wakes up screaming and sometimes crying. If there is a way to put the pieces of his heart, soul, and mind together again, it won't be easy, and no matter what, he will never be quite the same again. When these two broken boys come together, they will find understanding, comfort, and friendship in the most unlikely places, and maybe just a bit more.
