Enduring the torments at school by her fellow high school peers, then at home by her mother, Kate Sterling decides to take her own life. Thinking that the world isn't worth living anymore, she goes to the Golden Gate Bridge, ready to take the plunge. Suddenly deciding that she does not want to die, she steps back, but not before being tackled to the ground. Noah Fields was at the bridge too except he wasn't going to jump. He was going to save a life. The two meet under unexpected circumstances but a beautiful friendship will blossom from the almost tragedy. Noah will show her that life is worth living and that you don't have to kill yourself to free yourself from the pain. (highest rank: #1 on 2/28/19) |Completed 8//11//17|

Margaret had a big secret. Well... big depending on who you asked. She absolutely adored sign language. Something about being able to communicate using just your hands had always fascinated her. This, along with her passion and determination, lead her to learn the language. She picked it up quickly when she was young, but she had yet to tell a soul. She couldn't help but silently hope that this hidden talent of hers would one day become useful. And it looked like that day was today. Lance, the new deaf boy in her history class didn't have have a translator. Coming out of her shell, she helped him with the class content. In the process, she found a new friend... Though maybe he would turn out to be a little more than just a friend. TW: THIS DOES CONTAIN DOMESTIC ABUSE, THOUGH VERY LITTLE. BRIEF CHAPTER SUMMARIES WILL BE OFFERED AT THE END OF EVERY CHAPTER AS WELL AS A "TW" LABEL IF ANY CONTENT WHATSOEVER IN THAT CHAPTER RELATES TO IT. ____________________ Highest ranking: #542 in Short Story

*CURRENTLY EDITING! This version may or may not contain harmful stereotypes and I had been meaning to revise them and change them so better messages are communicated. Also, chapter numbers may be repeated due to newer chapters that I added after originally finishing the story. Thank u!* Owen Watson isn't what others consider a people's person. Introverted and bookish as he is, Owen is known to be grouchy and easily annoyed, especially with people who treat him as someone who is only defined by their disability. He was in a wheelchair, but he was fine anyway. Being in one means standing out, and one of the things Owen hates the most is attention. He just wants to sit back in the shadows with a good book. Everything changed when Athena Calimeris stumbled into his life and made things more complicated. Athena is your typical, bubbly, girl next door. Child at heart, people wouldn't think twice to know that she's a former child prodigy. Though her recent past tells a different story, she is as fragile as any other person can be despite her playful, sunny personality. Due to a not-so typical meeting, Owen and Athena aren't exactly instant partners in crime. With a little sprinkle of blossoming friendship and a tiny pinch of eye rolling, falling for the other might seem impossible, but not entirely.
