SMG4 and Tari find out that a gaming tournament is coming to the Mushroom Kingdom, and the first prize is $1000. They have to get really focused on training in order for them to win the tournament.

Mario and Meggy are on a honeymoon to Isle Delfino and meet up with a cleaning robot, F.L.U.D.D., but they unexpectedly get arrested because they're mistaken for shadow versions of themselves. Now it's up to them to find out who's behind this Shadow Mario and Meggy trick, while trying to clean up all of Isle Delfino along the way, of course.

The Star Festival returns, and Mario and Meggy are having a good time, but SMG3 and Desti have returned again, now supersized, thanks to the power of the Stars they stole. They kidnapped all of their Inkling friends, so now it's up to Mario and Meggy again to save them and the world, but they have many more Power Stars to collect first.

Alternate title: SMG4 Mario X Meggy: Welcome New Galaxy Mario and Meggy's date during the Star Festival gets interrupted by SMG3 and Desti. They tie up Mario and Meggy and put them in a cannon, shooting them into space. The couple now has to stop the bad guys from taking over the now-stolen Mushroom Kingdom. They just have to get Power Stars first.
