My phone buzzed as I hopped out of my taxi and stepped on the rain soaked concrete. My heart skipped so many beats. I knew who I WANTED that message to be from. The wind blew my hair around my face as I slammed the door shut. I couldn't even see. Frick. Why am I like this?
"Dammit!" I say as I try to frantically tangle my hair out of my face.
My purse spills over (of course, like, hello, it's me) and all my belongings spill out onto the wet ground. A girl like me does not belong in New York City. Jesus, if Stefan could see me now. Thank God I have a couple of hours until we meet to fix this hot ass mess.
The first thing I notice is my phone. It's all I cared about. Not really about the phone, but who was IN it. I scramble to grab it and notice a hand reach out and grab it before I get to it. I look up. Hugo?!
He half smiled at me and took a quick glance at my phone before handing it back to me. Oh, God. Please don't see anything. My stomach churns at the thought of him reading a thirst text from Albert. Yikes.
Hugo asked me how I was and I didn't even know what to say. He has feelings for me he's hiding. I KNOW he does. I debate on asking him if he'd like to grab a coffee with me.
"Well..." He says as he shoves his hands in his raincoat. There was a long pause. I just wanted to stare at his handsome, chiseled face. I start to say something as he walks passed me to go wherever the hell he was going. "It's alright. I get it. That Antoine guy must really be something. Making you speechless like that."
He turns away from me and keeps walking. Shit. Shitter shit shit.
I look at my phone to see what Hugo saw. A message from Antoine.
"Can't wait until you get to Alaska. I'm really missing you over here."
Fuck.
