"I don't know, Light." He paused, leaning forward towards the younger boy. "Why don't you tell me. Do you think we still are going to continue investigating?" He cocked his head to the side. He watched as Light's eyes fell back to their half moon shape. "Well, I would suppose so. You've handcuffed us together," he raised the dangling chain between them. "So I'd expect there'd be a reason to that, especially if we were still investigating." The chain jingled as it was lowered back to the floor, echoing out in the large room. L smiled slightly. "So the answer is yes then." He backed away, returning to his computer. He heard a small sigh from Light. Turning to face him again, he spoke. "Don't think you're not a suspect. That hasn't changed at all." Light nodded, not removing his eyes from his computer. L turned back to his own computer. The room filled with an awkward silence. The only sounds were the clicking sounds of the keys on the keyboards being typed as the two worked. It was minutes before either one spoke. "How many times must I tell you I'm not Kira?" He spoke softly. "I don't know. Ask me in a month." L smiled cheekily.

With Light Yagami dead and traveling through nothingness, or so thought by L, he is presented with a surprise. L, watching Light from the afterlife, is searching for a way to be able to communicate with Light. Both Light and L are offered with an ultimatum. Meeting each other requires that they sacrifice something that is essentially important to them. Will they accept? Will Light be able to grip on to the last pieces of sanity that remain within his mind, or will he snap and end up hurting L and will L be able to look past Light's flawed personality?

A year after the Kira case was put to rest, Light and L are living together in London, with L working on cases and Light occasionally helping out. But just as things seem to be going great, the killings start back up again, forcing L and Light back to Japan to figure out who the next Kira is, or if the old one has come back. He mumbled through the spoon of cream in his mouth, "As you can see, I am in fact eating at this very moment." Light rolled his eyes and muttered, "I meant real food." The detective gasped and placed a protective hand around his slice of strawberry cheesecake. "Don't you ever offend cake again!" "Fine then. No more kisses unless you eat anything other than cake." In defiance, L dipped his teaspoon back into his plate. "Do you really believe that I'm some sort of child? You can't possibly think that I'd fall for such futile tactics," he said, pretending that Light's threats had been ineffective. However, Light wasn't easily fooled. Raising an eyebrow, he shrugged, "Ok, then." L's dark eyes widened in bottomless pools. *Cover is not mine, please message me for credit*
