Dream seems to get him out of bed, make him laugh, etc. George eventually can't deny it. Every thing he says about him and Clay being friends is empty. Empty calls. Streams. Empty Texts. George knows his crush will be forced out of him by himself (power of gay), so in the days leading up to the stream, and the day he'll confess- Every text, was empty.
