When 14 year old Riley Ghent has to leave her home in Connecticut to move to California, something goes wrong. After stopping the flight at Atlanta, Georgia, she finds out the world has been effected by a terrifying disease. But when she ends up running into her favorite teen actor from an ironic TV show, he might change her life a much as he did before the entire world fell apart.

Rosaline is a nomad, living in the abandoned buildings of Atlanta during the walker epidemic. When she meets a group with exceptionally nice people, and one not so friendly, she decides to join them. However, with doing so she must decipher the varying moods of Daryl Dixon, fight off memories of her past that haunt her, fend off a smitten Shane, and try to stay alive in a place where the dead roam the streets.

She finds her uncle Daryl with the rest of the prison group; including a boy named Carl, when she meets him she realizes maybe it's not impossible to love in a world of such hatred. Separated several times, the prison group realizes they need to work together not apart, and not to take things for granted. Because you never know what you've had until you've lost it.
