First published in French as a serial in 1909, The Phantom of the Opera is a riveting story that revolves around the young, Swedish Christine Daaé. Her father, a famous musician, dies, and she is raised in the Paris Opera House with his dying promise of a protective angel of music to guide her. After a time at the opera house, she begins hearing a voice, who eventually teaches her how to sing beautifully. All goes well until Christine's childhood friend Raoul comes to visit his parents, who are patrons of the opera, and he sees Christine when she begins successfully singing on the stage. The voice, who is the deformed, murderous 'ghost' of the opera house named Erik, however, grows violent in his terrible jealousy, until Christine suddenly disappears. The phantom is in love, but it can only spell disaster. Leroux's work, with characters ranging from the spoiled prima donna Carlotta to the mysterious Persian from Erik's past, has been immortalized by memorable adaptations. Despite this, it remains a remarkable piece of Gothic horror literature in and of itself, deeper and darker than any version that follows This is a public domain work

Is it fair to keep secrets from your loved one? Will you do anything to make your loved one happy? Is love "giving" or "taking, "forgiving" or "acceptance"? Desiree has always been obsessed with the Phantom of the Opera. On a visit to Paris, she meets a mysterious person who tells her that she could go to the Phantom's world. However, she has to promise not to interfere with the original plot and timeline. She travels in time and pretends to be a boy at the Opéra Populaire , hoping to see the story unfold quietly but fate has other plans for her. A chance encounter with the Phantom led her to work for him and consequently, fall for him. Unable to break her promise, Desiree must watch her beloved takes steps towards his own heartbreak and downfall. What can she do to save him? or will she be able to guard her own secrets? This story will keep to a mixture of the original events of the POTO play/movie but with new characters, new scenes which I imagined would happen behind the main events, filling in the plot. @Whovian122003 : "I love this book because it's storyline is unique and its really good read!! I would 100% recommend it." @Phantomofthe_library: "I love this book. I love the suspense of Erik finding out Desiree's secret and wondering what his reaction will be. I also love the style of the author's writing." @lover4551am: "I love this book so much I love how she loves Erik but at the same time has to hide those feelings." Excerpt "What is your name, boy?" Although the question was not shouted but rather, spoken in a low voice, she could not help but shiver from the threat carried by it and the deep undertone of the powerful voice. "It's De.., De.., " , Desiree stuttered, staring up at the formidable figure in the shadows. Then she remembered that she was supposed to be a boy, and frantically scrambled her mind for a boy's name. Unfortunately, it meant that the first name uttered is the one she's been obsessed with her entire life. "Erik?"

What would happen if Erik was a vampire, Jareth, the Goblin King was his friend and Christine was just a tad more adventurous...? Leroux-based, deformity included. I do not own either of the books/movies I am basing this fanfiction on. All rights go to the owners whoever they are.

Four nights after the events that brought the Opera house down in flame, Christine begins to wonder whether going with Raoul was a good idea. Surely a life below Paris where light never touched would be a terrible existence... wouldn't it?

Approaching the old opera house was much more difficult than Christine Daaé had imagined. Not because of the fallen debris, or the scorched marble staircase she had to climb to reach the top. Nor was it the bittersweet memories that began to flash through a deep and pushed away piece of her consciousness when she managed to open the door that lead inside. No, what was difficult was the task she had set for herself, the entire reason she was there: to find Erik. (Editing)

Cecilia has been playing at the Opera Populaire as long as she can remember. She grew up there with many girls as her stand in mothers. She's known of the Opera Ghost that haunts the halls and stage. She never heard him. She never touched something he's broken. She's never been on the stage. Her weakness prevents it. She never could, never would, or so they all said. She couldn't dance. She couldn't sing. But she could play the cello. I based this off The Phantom Of The Opera movie. I have not read the book but when I do I will make some major editing happen! Please enjoy!!!
