Wei Wuxian showed up with a single jar of alcohol in his hand and made a beeline for where Yanli's brother and husband stood, heads bowed and clutching the hands of her young son. "I told you this would happen!" He spat in the face of Jin Zixuan. "I told you she wasn't strong enough and now look what happened!" He yelled. "It was what she wanted." Jiang Cheng cut in taking a step forward to separate Wei Wuxian and Jin Zixuan. "What she wanted!? She was sick! She didn't know what was going on! It was your job to protect her!" Wei Wuxian jabbed a finger into Jin Zixuan's chest. "I trusted- We trusted you to keep her safe!" Jin Zixuan lowered his head and stared at the floor. "I'm sorry..." Was all he managed to croak out. His son, Jin Ling, was looking up at him with his big doe eyes. He had no idea what was going on. He had no idea what he just lost. It was quiet for a few seconds and then Wei Wuxian let out a strangled noise. "You disgust me." He said looking between Jin Zixuan and Jiang Cheng, before storming out of the room. Jiang Cheng called after him and even some of the other cultivators gathered to mourn, seemed to want to help, but there was nothing they could do. That was the last time any of them had seen Wei Wuxian. His dark hair flowing with every angered step, black robes dragging on the floor, foreboding wall of resentment forming and that one jar of alcohol clutched in his hand. That was the last of the Yiling Patriarch.

Wei Wuxian died during the siege but it's what comes after that leaving the rest of the other cultivators speechless. This is my MDZS (A Danmei novel/MxM novel that was translated to English) fanfic. Wei WuXian was so excited he practically danced into Jiang WanYin's sick room. She followed slowly, but Wei WuXian's voice was loud enough for her to hear the entire tale. She crossed her arms and glared some more at the liar and his ShiDi who was getting all excited himself at the prospect of BaoShan SanRen giving him a new Core. When the story ended, Wen Qing smiled, sharp as a knife. "Now tell him where his new Core is going to come from." Jiang WanYin looked completely confused. It would have been adorable on a five year old; it looked too out of place on a seventeen year old. "What do you mean?" "I mean, tell him where his brand new Core is going to come from. It's not like 'BaoShan SanRen' can create a Core for you. You should have learned enough Core Theory to know that. Logically, then, your Core has to come from another person. Wei WuXian, you should also explain exactly who will be playing the part of your mother's grandmaster." You promised!" Wei WuXian turned an accusing glare at the doctor. "You promised you wouldn't tell him!" "And I'm not." Wen Qing held up three fingers in an imitation of this irritating idiot. "I have no intention of telling Jiang WanYin the truth of who he is going to get his Core from nor the truth of who is going to implant it." She smiled again, cuttingly. "You are." And with that, she swept from the sick room, her job done for now.

"You mentioned Lan Zhan," Lan Xichen nodded, expression falling into one of despair, "I've been trying to help for a while, but he wouldn't listen to me. And now...he's caught in a terrible situation, a dangerous situation, " Wei WuXian's heart thumped, worry curling around the flickers of memories in his mind. He glanced at Jiang Cheng who nodded with lips pressed together in a line, "Zewu Jun and all the sect leaders have been trying but no result. Zewu Jun then brought up to me privately to come to you, since you're probably the best-fitted person to help," Wei WuXian arched an eyebrow hearing this, he then stated "Hanguang Jun is in danger? The Hanguang Jun? And now Zewu Jun comes to me of all people for help? Exactly how terrible is this for you to turn to me?" "WangJi is getting corrupted by resentment energy," Wei WuXian choked on the sip of tea, turning his head and covering his mouth as he coughed. When he recovered he sat up slightly pale, "He's WHAT?!"

What if A-Yuan and the Wen remnants did not stay hidden during the second siege of the Burial Mounds and caused Lan Qiren to have a change of heart and actually look at Wei Wuxian without all his preconceptions and judgment? What should have been just a one shot turned out into more just like that. Since I have found the story incomplete, I am continuing it with several more chapters.
