She didn't know Tom Sully personally so she was surprised to find a wheelchair bound marine as his replacement. Despite this they got along well. They all did to a certain degree. And then Lahela got caught up in Jake's escape from the Thanator and they were split up. She was found on the forest floor. and Jake was found by Neytiri.
