But when tragedy strikes-his beloved sister Leyla and her husband Emre are killed in a hit-and-run accident-he is forced to return to his family home in Istanbul to care for their five-year-old son, Bulut. Grief-stricken and unsure of his place in this new reality, Can finds an unexpected anchor in Sanem, Leyla's childhood best friend, who has just returned from studying abroad. As Bulut clings to Sanem, seeing in her a fragment of the life he's lost, Can and Sanem must navigate grief, memory, and the tender beginnings of love to give Bulut-and themselves-a sense of home again. A story of healing, found family, and quiet romance, "Unexpected" explores whether love can blossom in the shadows of heartbreak-and whether two wounded hearts can piece together a future for the sake of a child. With only a delicate bracelet bearing her name, she's a mystery to everyone-most of all to herself. Can Divit, a reserved but kind-hearted former photographer turned rookie police officer, is the first to find her. Haunted by his own past and uncertain about his future, Can takes it upon himself to help Sanem uncover the truth. But as buried memories begin to surface and emotions deepen, the question remains-will the truth bring healing, or heartbreak?

Can had have never given a thought to getting married. Always avoiding the subject , even though he was being pushed by his mother at ever chance she got. Sanem's sister prayed that her she would find her ideal partner and settle down. A chance encounter left them with a bond that unites some people for life. In the hectic life's of a Police Officer and a reporter, can these two strangers finally find solace with each other after all the up's and downs.

Sanem Aydin was all about keeping it professional, but the real magic happened when she finally let loose and started living. Life took an unexpected turn when she crossed paths with Can Divit.

This is a continuation of story Regret Part I. Sanem meets with an accident while escaping a painful situation at a party. The accident results in many ups and downs in the life of Sanem and Can. Does Sanem come back unscathed? Does she reconcile with Can? Does Can learn to trust Sanem whole heartedly?

Snippets of alternate outcomes in the lives and enduring love story of Can Divit and Sanem Aydin. When I started out with this story, I only intended to loosely base the 'short piece' on the events in Bolum (Episodes) 17 & 18 however, I got such positive feedback, I decided to stretch it out a bit. I'm still unsure how far I will stretch it but so far, I'm enjoying writing it and will keep going till I run out of steam. I can't think of any show/movie that I've watched in recent times to which I have reacted as I did when I watched Erkenci Kuş. The characters hooked their claws into me and wouldn't let go. I rooted for Sanem and Can; cried and laughed with them; railed at and cursed their detractors and finally rejoiced over their reunion. However, the ending was so rushed. After all the angst we were put through with their relationship, I felt robbed of an extended happily-ever-after. What we were given was too short. I hope to right that wrong, amongst others, with this story. Though I only watched the show in Jan/Feb 2023, I have since rewatched it countless times. There were certain parts of the plot which wound me up so much so this is me writing what I wished had happened. Enjoy!
