It's not until it told him of their betrayal that he finally believed it.

After surviving Tartarus, Percy comes back to discover that his friends moved on without him, and that he's been replaced by someone more powerful and more popular than him, in search for power and revenge, Percy seeks vengeance among those who betrayed him, earning him the nickname of the Demigod Hunter.

In a heartbeat, he was claimed the best fighter when he beat Clarisse in a stupid fight. Everyone forgot about me. Chiron ignored me. Blackjack wouldn't let me ride him. Poseidon told everyone that Alex was his pride and joy and that Alex was his favorite son. Then he granted Alex immortality. But worse, he got Annabeth too. With one look at him, she was always chatting with him, when I asked her to go for a stroll, she'd say she was busy. But when I followed her once, I found her with Alex. Kissing. I ignored my broken heart and went on living. And then the death happened. Malcolm, Annabeth's half brother was found dead. By the sea. And I was framed. Of course some had their doubts, but only my true friends. Nico, Thalia, Leo, Rachel and Grover. Everyone else sided with Alex. Who banished me and sent me to the gods. But before I got to Olympus, I got a chance at a new life. And I took it.

Percy Jackson couldn't care less what people think of him. Someone didn't like his newly dyed hair? Not his problem, look somewhere else. People think he's weird for hanging out with the friends he did? His choice, not theirs. But if they found out his secret. That'd be bad. Actually, if they found out his secrets. Yeah, plural. Percy Jackson has a few "dirty little secrets" that could mean life or death for him. He has a lot of enemies. Being a demigod does that to you. So does being an Avenger. With a new prophecy having been whispered into the ears of Apollo and his Oracle, the gods have made one final decision. In hopes of saving Olympus, the gods have cast down their hero to the depths of the pit. The demigods, yet to know of this new prophecy are furious, but none more so than Percy himself.
